    Fort Benton, Montana is home to IND HEMP's two processing facilities: one dedicated to the processing of hemp oilseed and the other focused on industrial hemp fiber products. Each operation is purpose-build to provide industrial hemp food, feed and fiber products across a variety of applications and industries while providing our farmers with multiple revenue stream and contract production opportunities.

    Position Summary:

    As IND HEMP's Quality Assurance Technician, you will be a key member of the Company's Quality Management team and responsible for HACCP monitoring, conducting in-house quality inspections and audits, the performance of receiving inspections and approval of finished goods for shipment. We are looking for a hands on individual with a good eye for detail and advanced problem solving skills to ensure that our manufacturing processes comply with applicable certification standards.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Coordinating and participating in internal and external audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
    • Developing, implementing, and monitoring quality control procedures and protocols to enhance product quality and safety.
    • Conducting regular inspections and evaluations of production processes, equipment, and facilities to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to quality standards.
    • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to address quality-related issues, implement corrective and preventive actions, and provide training and guidance on quality assurance practices.
    • Performing routine inspections and tests on incoming raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure adherence to quality specifications.
    • Monitoring production processes and equipment to identify and address deviations from quality standards, while assisting with data compilation, reporting, and SQF Maintenance.
    • Maintaining HACCP and Food Safety Plans to mitigate food safety risks throughout the manufacturing process, serving as the PCQI to oversee preventive controls and manage food safety hazards.
    • Managing corrective actions to improve product quality and safety, including identifying issues, developing effective solutions, and ensuring timely implementation.
    • Documenting actions, analyzing data, and engaging with customers to address complaints, investigate root causes, and ensure satisfactory resolution.
    • Working closely with procurement and supply chain teams to evaluate and monitor suppliers and vendors, ensuring quality and safety standards compliance.
    • Supporting the Quality Assurance Manager in responding to quality-related emergencies, product withdrawals/recalls, or crisis situations, and maintaining accurate records of quality assurance activities.
    • Actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality processes, optimize efficiency, and reduce waste throughout the production process.
    • Assisting in operations and inventory management, including supporting production and warehouse activities alongside the Supply Chain Supervisor.
    • Providing seasonal agronomic support, including seed warehousing and distribution, assisting in field and crop inspections, and facilitating grower communications.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Associates or bachelor's degree in a related field.
    • Certification as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and HACCP.
    • Strong working knowledge of GFSI level programs, standards, and food safety regulations.
    • Experience in quality control, quality assurance, and food manufacturing.
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with documentation and record-keeping.
    • Proficient in quality control methods, inspections, testing, and data analysis.
    • Strong listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills to identify root causes and resolve quality issues.
    • Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail in reporting.
    • Proficiency in ERPS, Microsoft Office applications, data management software, and supplier programs like TraceGains.
    • Ability to operate laboratory equipment effectively.
    • Ability to work independently or in a team environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
    • Adaptability to work in varying environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to hot and cold climates.
    • Capability to sit and stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 pounds as required.
