    What You'll Be Doing
    As a Sr.

    Estimator with Emmerson Construction, you will be primarily responsible for developing high-quality construction estimates based on analyzing project technical requirements, as well as effectively communicating to both the client and respective project teams.

    The Sr.

    Estimator maintains expert knowledge and acute awareness of material and labor market trends, creates functional estimating templates, and advises stakeholders accordingly.

    Additionally, your tasks will include, but not be limited to:
    Collecting and analyzing all project costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment, and tooling to ensure estimates are accurate.
    Identifying and quantifying potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs.
    Updating costs, as necessary, based on new information and project scope changes.

    Analyzing construction projects from multiple angles and studying plans and specifications to prepare estimations for a variety of property development opportunities.

    Maintaining and reporting quarterly cheat sheet trends.

    Setting up and managing the electronic files associated with estimating; as well as uploading and managing the documents for each project during pre-construction.

    Managing the SOV requests process, including reviewing the SOVs with the respective clients while appropriately resolving any related issues.
    Acquiring necessary information, estimate each project, and review the project estimates with the stakeholders.
    Qualifying the estimate and answering any questions from stakeholders.
    Identifying economic opportunities, track trends, and assess how those economic trends may impact future estimates.
    Providing estimation related support and assistance to stakeholders and respective teams, as needed.
    Leading, managing, and mentoring other estimating staff members.

    What You'll Need to Perform the Role
    You'll use the following to be successful in this role:
    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management
    At least ten (10) years of construction industry experience with extensive knowledge of best industry practices and standards
    Advanced usage of current bidding software with an exceptional history of obtaining strong bid support from subcontractors
    Exceptional history of formulating contingency plans to effectively managing risks that might impact cost and time
    Extensive history of building successful relationships with various trades and subcontractors, preferably in the area local to the project
    Exceptional time management, multitasking and interpersonal skills.
    Expert knowledge of construction documents, drawings, specifications, costs budgets, and current construction practices and methodology
    Superior technical plan reading and comprehension skills
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project)

    It is also preferable for you to have:
    Experience with PLA's, union trades and college campuses


    You may also have an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill, and abilities have been attained.


    You'll also need the following attributes:
    Ability to be adaptable when utilizing historical data as well as competitive bid cost estimates
    Extremely organized with ingrained ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
    Keen attention to detail with focused adherence to strict deadlines and procedures
    Sound problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to exercise sound independent judgment
    High level of integrity and dependability, including handling sensitive and confidential information
    Teamwork mindset and temperament to work effectively with a diverse group of people
    Effective ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
    Genuine desire to work in the real estate development affordable housing industry
    Personal accountability and enthusiasm for achieving company goals

    Hiring Range
    Salary of $150K to $175K on an annualized basis, depending on qualifications.


    The pay range for this position starts as listed in the job posting but may change based on education and experience.

    Final compensation is determined by various factors, such as education, training, experience, work location, required travel (if any), and external market conditions.

    In addition to salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401(k), paid time off including a generous holiday schedule.
