Job Description
Provides electrical engineering services for projects to assure high quality planning, design and construction.
Responsibilities include engineering of electrical systems, including but not limited to, power systems, lighting systems, security systems, and fire alarm systems.
Update of campus electrical standards, review projects developed by outside consultants, maintain system diagrams, provide capital planning for electrical systems, and operational support for maintenance operations.
Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent combination of a 2 year Electrical Engineering Technology degree and professional experience with building electrical systems.
Engineer in Training ( EIT ) designation is or eligible to take Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is preferred.Skilled in using software systems including AutoCAD, Revit, and Excel.
Job Specific Qualifications
Experience in a consulting engineering (or similar) organization through internship or experience.
Technical knowledge of building electrical systems including power, lighting, fire alarm, and data systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
Provide design engineering services for in-house designed projects.
Design services include development of basis of design, schematic design, design development, construction document development, construction administrative services, commissioning, and operational acceptance.
Provide technical reviews on projects designed by consultants.Review basis of design documents and document submissions for conformance with the University's standards.
Act as liaison between the consultant and the University's operational staff to ensure systems are efficient, operational, and maintainable.
Provide operational support on electrical systems.
Assist operational staff in diagnosing, assessing, and advising corrective action on building systems.
Maintain project documentation on electrical systems
Develop and maintain university engineering standards for use by outside consultants and internal university departments.
Research systems and products and develop standards to provide quality university facilities. Develop standards in a collaborative effort that includes the operational staff of the university. Standards include guidance to designers, specifications, and standard details.
Support the development of feasibility studies.
Research existing systems and develop requirements to support functional improvements to facilities.
