    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer and will be the financial lead on the Aerospace and Defense segment. The role will work closely with leadership team in achieving financial and operational plan objectives, enhancing the controls environment, improving processes and reporting solutions, and supporting strategic business case development.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    • Lead annual budget and forecast process for the segment; partnering with the VP GM of the Business Unit to manage the business.
    • Provide financial leadership, advice and improvements as a key leader in the management of the Business Unit operations.
    • Provide strategic leadership, develop long-term business plan and key initiatives along with VP GM of the Business Unit to grow profits.
    • Develops assessments and business analysis to identify areas to improve business performance.
    • Assists and performs various cost accounting activities to ensure the ongoing accuracy of product cost information. Perform variance analysis and identify improvement opportunities.
    • Prepare, lead review monthly closing activities as well as financial reporting for both internal management team and corporate. Review monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and financial statements.
    • Lead monthly review on critical business metrics and lead cross functional team to develop and monitor both short-term and long-term action items.
    • Monitors business processes for compliance with internal control procedures and SOX Requirements.
    • Lead and Manage customer audit and/or government CAS Audit.
    • Responsible for cost, margin and pricing reviews and decisions within the Business Unit.
    • Determine investment requirements for the business. Make the appropriate recommendations and financial return projections for capital investments and decisions.
    • Support the New Product Development Organization in the development and improvement of processes to ensure the business engages in sustainable and profitable programs.
    Requirements

    CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS PREFERRED Experience
    • Bachelor's degree required with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
    • At least 10 years of combined finance and accounting experience. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as finance P L lead or plant controller in a standard cost manufacturing environment, with an emphasis on cost accounting, reporting and variance analysis.
    • Aerospace and/or defense or government accounting experience is a preferred
    • Must have technical skills and experience in financial reporting for a publicly traded global company.
    • Must have ability to develop knowledge of and work directly in ERP systems to extract information and identify opportunities to leverage systems more effectively.
    • Experience working with Hyperion is preferred.
    • Experience working for a large public accounting firm is preferred.
    • Strong GAAP and SOX knowledge/experience
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proven ability to manage and develop staff.
    • Technical acumen, creative thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
    • Advanced computer skills with MS software (Excel, PowerPoint)
