    Job Summary:

    The Study Abroad Advisor II provides the comprehensive academic and intercultural support and guidance for students before, during, and after the experience abroad. This position is responsible for advising and supporting more complex work such as specialized programs or cohorts.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Advises study abroad students with complex advising situations. Works with specialized programs or cohorts throughout the study abroad advising and application process.
    • Serves as liaison with various campus departments including academic units, student service offices, administrative support units, etc. as well as external partners such as affiliate and exchange partners. May assist in development of new program opportunities.
    • Assists with training new Study Abroad Advisors and takes a lead role in collaborating with campus partners in programming efforts. Supports the work of UTA Study Abroad and the Office of International Education.
    • Stays current and involved in the broader field of international education through activities such as serving on national scholarship committees, attending and presenting at conferences, researching study abroad best practices, etc.
    • Performs other duties assigned.
    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree with two (2) years of working experience in international education and/or overseas living, working, or study experience, or related experience in higher education.
    • Self-directed with exceptional organizational and communication skills.
    • Experience developing or managing programs or projects in a team environment.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's degree.
    • Experience with study abroad-related software, such as Terra Dotta, via TRM, etc.
    • Experience with Photoshop, Publisher, or other desktop publishing software.
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Familiar with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Effective problem-solving skills and good decision quality.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively prioritize.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Customer focus which includes students, faculty, staff and external partners.
