Role with the Company:

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the company and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Financial activities include financial planning and analysis, yearly audits, interpreting financial impacts of the company, asset and resource management, payroll, bookkeeping, accounting, and budgeting. The Controller will report to the President and work closely with the Executive Management Team to create a fiscal strategy that aligns with the goals and growth of the company.

• Coordinate/direct day-to-day accounting & finance activities including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll.
• Oversee and prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and conduct reviews with Executive Management. Develop & implement monthly close schedule to ensure timely preparation.
• Ensure financial reports comply with company's financial policies and GAAP.
• Perform effective analysis of financial information and provide plans to address financial or operational concerns.
• Assess and maintain appropriate staffing levels and job responsibilities to ensure overall team effectiveness.
• Coordinate all internal financial training and development.
• Assess and Develop accounting processes and procedures to improve the efficiency of the accounting department.
• Collaborate with IT to Identify, acquire, and implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information. Evaluate and deploy these tools to generate process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the company.
• Develop and maintain all departmental internal controls.
• Lead and coordinate budget preparation, planning, and forecasting efforts across all departments to ensure operating budgets reflect the company's goals and growth strategy.
• Coordinate with external auditors to ensure satisfactory compliance with financial reporting and internal control requirements for yearly audits.
• Provide strategic financial guidance and analysis for capital investments, pricing decisions, and risk management.
• Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company's growth objectives and maximize profitability.
• Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the company's operating and strategic goals.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filing deadlines.
• Put Controller hat on going forward to help expand business.
• Coordinate with subsidiary accounting teams.
• Oversee corporate asset management.
• Oversee all banking relationships and requirements.
• Implement and communicate financial policies and programs.
• Analyze impacts of legal or regulatory changes.

Background profile:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; CPA and public accounting experience preferred
• 10+ years' experience in mid to senior level accounting positions with 5+ of those years at Controller level managing teams
• Comfortable in a hands-on, roll up your sleeves, working manager role
• Experience ramping up quickly to support company growth and how best to get the capital to do so wisely (use cash or LOC)
• Experience in inventory environment required
• Strong financial analysis skills, attention to detail, & ability to effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders
• Experience with Great Plains and QuickBooks preferred; strong Excel skills; experience evaluating/maximizing ERP systems
• Ability to bring structure to complex environments and problem solve
• Proficient in Spanish a plus as Controller over warehouse in Mexico reports to this Controller
