- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a paraprofessional training program or at least two years of college coursework (Associate's degree or higher preferred)
- Demonstrated proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics (testing may be required)
- Compliance with all local and state requirements for paraprofessional certification, including:
- Background checks
- Clearances
- Any other certifications as required by individual districts
- Assist teachers in implementing instructional activities and lesson plans
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who require additional assistance
- Supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, lunchrooms, and playgrounds
- Reinforce positive behavior and help manage classroom discipline
- Assist with classroom materials and equipment preparation
- Accompany students to and from specialized classes, therapies, or other activities as needed
- Support students with special needs, including those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to all school policies and procedures
