    What We Focus On:

    The Senior Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in spearheading the development of the EPU system (electric motor/inverter/gearbox) by establishing system architecture, defining requirements, and analyzing system safety (software and hardware). This position contributes to defining system standards and philosophy, coordinating internal resources at Supernal for collaborative development with external suppliers. The role involves close collaboration with Battery Research & Technology, Flight Control Systems, Vehicle Management Systems, and Test & Evaluation teams.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with internal partners on requirement capturing and architectural definitions
    • Ensure seamless flow down of requirements to support supplier's component development
    • Validate requirements through simulation or test methods
    • Define and implement Verification activities, linking back to EPU requirements
    • Participate in design reviews to validate supplier's efforts on motor controls algorithms
    • Work with engineers on defining test plans, verification procedures, and reviewing outcomes
    • Assist in testing and verifying control algorithms utilizing hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and dyno test bench
    • Offer technical guidance to supplier's EPU system development life cycle
    • Define mechanical, electrical, and communication interfaces with aircraft systems
    • Collaborate with suppliers/partners on technical development for meeting program milestones
    • Perform System Safety Assessment in collaboration with internal and external entities
    • Work with project management to establish realistic schedules, budgets, and resource allocation
    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to foster innovation within the team
    • Ensure accurate documentation of design decisions, system configurations, and testing procedures
    • Partner with PMO organization to implement project build plan
    • Up to 10% domestic and international travel may be required
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, electrical, or relevant engineering field
    • Minimum five (5) years of experience in powertrain/propulsion systems engineering
    • Minimum two (2) years of experience in requirements capturing and aviation standards
    • Strong background in system safety, electric motors, and motor control algorithms
    • Experience with system simulation/testing methods and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems

    Additional Skills:

    • Preferably familiar with RTCA DO-178C and DO-254A
    • Proficiency in JIRA, Confluence, and Model Based Systems Engineering tools/methodologies
    • Hands-on experience and familiarity with VDC systems
    • Prior exposure to the aviation industry and regulatory agencies

    The base pay offered may vary based on expertise, experience, knowledge, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for a bonus as part of the total compensation package.

    The pay range for this position is: $180,100—$218,300 USD
