    Budget Analyst

    Location: Silver Spring, MD Full-time (Hybrid) 2 days in the office.
    Salary: Negotiable W2 ($130K-$150K).
    Clearance: Must be a US Citizen.

    Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, performs technical fiscal work in budget development, control, analysis and review of revenues and expenditures; maintains and reviews financial records and accounts in a variety of areas.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited educational institution.

    • Minimum of Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in governmental accounting or financial analysis, preferably within a similar educational institution.

    • This person needs to be familiar with the federal budgeting process, DE obligations, expenditures and tracking budget outlays and analysis.

    Performance Responsibilities:

    • Perform specialized and technical work assisting in the development, maintenance, and analysis of budgets, including but not limited to preparation and distribution of funding allocations, preparation of budget amendments, report compilation, and analysis.

    • Analyzes financial information for the purpose of identifying potential budget variances, compiling statistical information, developing procedures, and conforming to established financial practices and regulatory requirements.

    • Compiles statistical and financial data from a wide variety of sources (e.g. district payroll, fixed assets, district expenditures. etc.) for the purpose of developing budget recommendations; providing summaries to other personnel; and/or ensuring compliance with established guidelines.

    • Prepares a monthly Budget Amendment Report tracking and explaining variances in budget amendments.

    • Monitor budget expenditures and keep administrators current regarding spending levels and budget activity.

    • Analyze income/expenditures data to determine cost effectiveness of programs, purchases, and activities.

    • Prepare statistical and analytical reports for administrators as requested.

    • Keep abreast of such requirements as labor contracts, accounting standards, audit findings, budget changes, and federal and state reporting standards.

    • Keep supervisor informed of activities in area of assignment.

    • Ensure adherence to good safety standards.

    • Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.

    • Model and maintain high ethical standards.

    • Represent the district in a positive and professional manner.

    • Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.

    • Demonstrate support for the school district and its goals and objectives.

    • Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment.

    • Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
