    Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is in search of a Principal Military Trainer - Air Work Area Commander (WAC) to join our dynamic team at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas. As a Work Area Commander (WAC), you will be part of a team responsible for supporting Warfighter Exercise rotations within the Mission Command Training Program by aiding in the planning and execution of exercises, rehearsals, seminars, and post-event reviews. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the World Class Opposing Forces (WCOPFOR) and OPFOR Support Division to prepare opposing force orders, simulation control plans, and various contractual deliverables to enhance the Mission Command Training Program (MCTP). Additionally, you will be involved in the planning and execution of MCTP Exercise rotations alongside members from the Exercise and Simulation Support Directorates and S35 Future Operations.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develop computer simulations with exercise scenario planning and graphics
    • Complete certification as a WARSIM Battle Simulation Workstation Operator
    • Create computer simulations by strategically placing designated units in doctrinal formations according to combat orders and scenarios
    • Supervise WARSIM Battle Simulation Workstation Operators in the Aviation/ADA Cell
    • Input computer orders and generate designated reports accurately
    • Coordinate Corps and Division level Aviation and Air Defense assets efficiently
    • Apply OPFOR hybrid threat Aviation and Air Defense Doctrine, Tactics, and procedures
    • Facilitate coordination between command post staff and simulation operators for Aviation and Air Defense Operations
    • Oversee OPFOR Aviation and Air Defense efforts within the OPFOR Support Division
    • Potentially deploy to various locations as needed to support U.S. military operations
    Basic Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or GED with at least 10 years of professional and/or military leadership experience, or
    • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6 years of professional and/or military leadership experience, or
    • Master's degree with at least 4 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
    • Familiarity with current Army Aviation and Army/Joint doctrines
    • Active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
    • Proficient in MS Office suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access)
    • Ability to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas and travel up to 20% of the time
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Completion of U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course, or Military Education Level 4 (MEL 4) equivalent Intermediate Level Education (ILE)
    • Graduate degree
    • At least 2 years of experience in designing, planning, configuring, and conducting large-scale computer simulation exercises
    • Prior exposure to computer-assisted simulation training
    • Familiarity with Warfighter's Simulation (WARSIM)
    • Experience serving as a Brigade or higher staff officer
    • Previous role as an Observer Controller/Trainer (OC/T)
    Salary Range: $69,600 - $104,400
