    Sr.Communications Specialist


    Purpose of the Job

    The Senior Communications Specialist must be a strategic thinker with a strong background in messaging and writing, capable of crafting compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences. As a key member of our communications team, the Senior Communications Specialist will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our organization's messaging strategy, with a significant focus on fundraising. The candidate will be the primary story teller of the organization and its impact on the children and the Coptic Community.


    Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    • Message Development: Develop and refine key messages that align with the organization's mission and resonate with target audiences.
    • Content Creation: Produce high-quality written content, including press releases, articles, annual reports, speeches, webpages and other materials that effectively communicate the organization's goals and initiatives, with an emphasis on compelling fundraising appeals. Maintain and keep updated third-party websites that publish our information such as Global-Giving, CFC, Charity Navigator, etc.
    • Fundraising Campaigns: Collaborate with the development team to create impactful communication materials for fundraising campaigns, including appeal letters, donor emails, and social media content.
    • Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure coverage that enhances the organization's visibility and supports public relations efforts.
    • Brand Management: Ensure consistent messaging, tone, and branding across all communication channels, including digital platforms, print materials, and events.
    • Strategic Communications: Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement strategic communication plans that support organizational objectives, including fundraising targets.
    • Crisis Communication: Act as a spokesperson for the organization when necessary and manage communication during challenging situations or crises related to fundraising.
    • Perform other related tasks and functions as required.

    Minimum Required Education, Knowledge, and Skills

    • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 15 years of experience in communications, with a focus on messaging, writing, and fundraising.
    • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen attention to detail.
    • Proven experience in media relations and securing positive media coverage.
    • Ability to think strategically and develop creative communication solutions to drive successful fundraising campaigns.
    • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
    • Fluency or near-fluency in spoken Arabic strongly preferred; reading Arabic is a plus.

    May be required to work some after-hours or weekends when necessary; May involve occasional domestic or international travel to conferences or event.
