    Job Title: 5th Grade Teacher

    About the Role:

    We are seeking an experienced Middle School Teacher to teach 5th grade at a K-12 independent school in Potomac, Maryland.

    The ideal candidate should have experience working with students who have diverse needs, including dyslexia, anxiety, and gifted students. They should be able to assess students' strengths and areas of need to craft lessons that meet their academic requirements. Creativity, flexibility, and strong communication skills are essential.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and organize a comprehensive 5th-grade curriculum aligned with school standards.
    • Teach literature, history, English, math, and support a homeroom class.
    • Evaluate student performance and develop standards for assessment.
    • Stay updated on best teaching practices and methodologies to effectively instruct students.
    • Create lesson plans and materials that promote critical thinking and analysis.
    • Plan engaging activities that cater to different learning styles.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
    • Strong commitment to the school's Core Values, Mission, and Philosophy.
    • At least 1-3 years of teaching experience at the K-12 level.
    • Possibility to contribute to extracurricular activities as a coach or advisor.
    • Geographic flexibility is preferred.
    • Able to work in the United States.
