    Shift: 7:00am - 5:30 pm/4-10's/Monday - Friday

    Status:
    Full Time/ 40 hour week

    Summary:


    Provides assistance to the surgeon during surgical procedures including exposure, hemostasis, suturing, tying, tissue manipulation, closing wounds, and applying dressings.

    Collaboration with the surgical team, and under the supervision of a RN, assumes responsibility for the care and safety of patients during surgical procedures.

    Facilitates communication between the surgeon, perioperative team, and other hospital departments.


    Minimum Qualifications:
    Formal Education Required


    • Graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program
    • Completion of an accredited program for First Assisting.
    • Certified Surgical Technician (CST) preferred.
    Experience & Training Required


    • Completion of required clinical experience during education process is required.
    • BCLS certification

    • Possess manual dexterity for assisting skills
    • Ability to work irregular hours
    • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
    • Maintains current knowledge of nursing practices/procedures related to care of surgical patients
    • Ability to work independently
    • Ability to foster good working relationships with other departments and OR staff members, and to work closely with all members of the peri-operative team, physicians, patients/families, etc. to assure optimal peri-operative nursing care.
    • Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
    Level of Physical Demands


    • Heavy: Exerts pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
    • Occasional carrying, climbing of stairs, and exposure to dust, fumes or gas.
    • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and twisting.
    The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials.
