    Position Summary
    The Automotive Technology Department at Brookdale Community College is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure track position in Automotive to begin Fall The department welcomes candidates who are committed to Brookdale's mission of success and academic excellence and who desire to work in a diverse and dynamic environment. In addition to excellent academic credentials and subject area knowledge, candidates will bring to the College a love of teaching; an enthusiastic desire to assist students; and an eagerness to contribute to the BCC community. Candidates will demonstrate a passion for lifelong learning, inside and outside of the classroom.

    Description of Duties
    • Teach 100 and/or 200 level Automotive courses both daytime and evenings.
    • Design and deliver curriculum; evaluate and report student progress, maintain office hours.
    • Develop engaging teaching pedagogies that embody active learning principles.
    • Engage students in academic and professional opportunities through the curricular and extra-curricular activities.
    • Actively participate in recruitment and retention efforts for Automotive program.
    • Contribute to an enriching academic environment through teaching excellence; robust curriculum development and assessment; providing significant service to the department, division, and College.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to continued professional growth and productive scholarship.
    • Active participation in the College's collegial governance, student success and completion agenda.


    Minimum Qualifications
    Education
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field required (Master's degree preferred).
    • Successful candidate must be fully ASE certified in the eight automotive areas. At least six (6) years of relevant automotive service experience is also necessary.
    • Willingness to maintain appropriate automotive certifications and attend classes to meet the extensive training requirements of our General Motors program.

    Applicants invited for a second level interview may be required to present a teaching demonstration.

    Preferred Qualifications & Special Considerations
    • Formal teaching/training experience is preferred, five (5) or more years of relevant automotive service experience that would include 2-3 years as a classroom teacher/trainer.
    • An individual with strong and consistent interest in environmental issues as they relate to Automotive Technology as well as emerging technologies.
    • The ability to teach all aspects of Automotive Technology, including electricity/electronics, fuel systems, brakes, steering and suspension, engine repair, automatic and manual transmissions and HVAC. A familiarity with the Learning Management System Canvas and the video conferencing tool Zoom.


    Knowledge of Monmouth County and its communities.

    Faculty members teaching extra courses or working additional hours during the academic year and in the summer receive additional compensation.

    **Note: This position may be staffed at the Assistant Professor Level.
