    A fast-growing, boutique investment banking advisory firm based in New York City (NY) and Tampa (FL) is searching for a

    Power Market Analyst

    to join its energy investment banking team (thermal and renewable energy transactions).

    This investment bank supports clients on M&A, equity and debt capital raises, project finance, divestitures, and special situations strategic advisory.

    Their client base includes long-standing clients in the sector and new renewables developers.

    The

    Power Market Analyst

    position is part of the Fundamental Analysis Team. This Team is responsible for the long-term, power market fundamental view of the U.S. wholesale power markets. It will connect the forward price views to the firm's investment banking deals and advisory transactions. The Power Fundamental Analysis and Banking Teams work together collaboratively.

    Primary markets include CaISO, ERCOT, and PJM, but deals can cross all ISOs/RTOs.


    Key responsibilities include:
    Manage third-party power markets consultants and internal key stakeholders.
    Research and analyze the long-term supply and demand forecasts using third-party power market subscriptions across multiple wholesale power markets. Digest key industry and competitive information.
    Understand opportunities, costs, and risks in market intelligence.

    Develop 30-year baseline price views and work products (in-depth, long-term supply and demand analyses utilizing in-house tools to forecast prices and power dispatch).

    Monitor and understand critical regulatory initiatives and policies impacting the development of power plants within the energy transition.
    Help craft the bank's thesis and views on the power markets for strategic client transactions.

    Disseminate fundamental analysis (e.g., white papers, briefs, presentations) and price forecasts internally and externally with clients and other third parties (lenders).

    Articulate and influence investment decisions directly with clients.
    Assist the investment banking team in executing deals, including due diligence and transaction support.
    Assist the investment banking team in creating materials for presentations to the bank's clients and lenders.

    Educational and professional requirements include:
    Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, or a related discipline.
    1-5 years of experience in power fundamentals modeling at a market research, consulting, or IPP (required).
    Experience with production cost modeling and power market forecasting software/models (Aurora, PLEXOS, or similar software/in-house proprietary models).

    Understanding of one or more power markets, ISO or RTO markets including CaISO, ERCOT, MISO, NE-ISO, NYISO, PJM, and/or SPP.

    Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    Proficiency in analytical and financial modeling.
    Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

    The position can be located in Tampa or New York City.
