    Description

    Job Title: Management Services Officer 2 at Marine Science Institute

    Department Marketing Statement: The Marine Science Institute leads in marine and environmental research, constantly expanding our understanding of marine science and policy.     Job Duties Summary: The Management Services Officer, reporting to the Institute's director, oversees various management functions at MSI, from operations and facilities management to human resources and financial resource management. This role involves strategic planning, team leadership, and ensuring efficient operations.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
    • Strong interpersonal skills, decision-making abilities, and multi-tasking skills
    • Knowledge of financial analysis, human resources, and program management

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of progressive management experience
    • Ability to establish goals and metrics for employees

    Special Conditions of Employment:

    • Satisfactory background check required

    Job Functions and Time Breakdown:

    • 40% Financial and Business Management - Responsible for fiscal affairs, budget planning, and financial analysis at MSI.
    • 15% Human Resources/Personnel Management - Manages personnel activities and enforces health and safety regulations.
    • 25% Unit Management - Oversees various units within the institute and provides guidance on operational issues.
    • 10% Project Management - Provides administrative oversight for large projects.
    • 10% Facilities Management - Manages facilities planning and development, ensuring a safe and functional environment.
