Job Description:
At DHHS, we do our best to grow our own Our staff knows all that goes into helping people live better lives, and this new opportunity as a Lead Worker offers the chance to guide and support Social Service Workers in those efforts.
Located in the Omaha State Office Building (11am-8pm), this position will serve as lead worker through coaching, mentoring, instructing and providing case consultation, advice, direction, technical assistance and individual training to Social Services Workers and Trainees to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services.
Review situations where an appeal has been filed to determine adherence to policy and participate as the representative for the division during the initial appeal process.
Provide assistance in monitoring and evaluating internal protocols, policies, service delivery goals and objectives. Process and determine eligibility for complex customer Economic Assistance eligibility situations. Assist applicants, verify information, compute budgets, assess situations, and make referrals to appropriate programs/resources. Provide information regarding assistance programs and prepare required documentation, narratives, and correspondence. Assist in the training, mentoring and development of the team.REQUIREMENTS:
Two years experience in a health and/or human services field OR 24 semester hours of post high school education in behavioral sciences, public/business administration, social sciences or closely related field OR any combination of education and experience that equates to two years in human services, behavioral sciences, public/business administration, social sciences, or closely related field.
Experience in a social service organization with responsibility for determining eligibility for Medicaid programs.PREFERRED:
Experience with Economic Assistance programs.
Knowledge of the Economic Assistance programs. Candidate must have basic math skills, strong computer skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to read, understand, apply and explain complex regulations and polices to customers and staff. Ability to handle people of varying backgrounds and situations comfortably. Staff may be required to travel.
