    **POSITION SUMMARY**

    Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures performs a variety of functions related to the care and handling of sterile and instruments, decontamination, and processing of sterile supplies and patient equipment.

    Job Requirements **Education:** High School Diploma or equivalent; Completion of a recognized Sterile Processing Education Program; Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician

    **Skills:**

    Must have effective interpersonal skills to deal with all levels of hospital staff

    Capacity to organize, maintain, and dispense supplies, equipment and surgical goods according to standards and principles of disinfection, sterility and infection control.

    Able to work independently using sound judgment skis based upon standards of sterility and disinfection.

    Knowledgeable in computer software and able to perform basic computer operations.

    Ability to adapt to changes in patient census and activity and staffing needs. Must have flexibility to work a varying schedule should the need arise. May require working overtime (greater than 40 hours/week) and or shift durations that exceed eight hours.

    **Years of Experience:** The lead position should have a minimum of one year experience in Sterile Processing.

    **Certification:** Certification in Sterile Processing
