- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care on telemetry unit
- Performs focused interviews to identify specific patient needs
- Assesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition
- Monitors EKG output and keeps doctors informed of any changes
- Records vital signs, including oxygen levels, blood pressure, breathing patterns, etc.
- Monitors patient progress and updating patient medical records as needed
- Responds to patients experiencing cardiac pain, notifies RN and physician if applicable
- Manages and administers medication
- Monitors and uses the EKG
- Educates patients on cardiac health and communicates with patient's family when applicable
- Administers tests, analyzes lab results, then reports to the physician
- Documents the patient's plan of care
- Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient care requirements
- Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard
- Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment
- Documents patient's response to nursing and other interventions
- Monitors safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment
- Current Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse license for the state in which the nurse practices
- One year experience in Telemetry preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
- Computer proficiency required
