    JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


    We are searching for motivated and talented Applications Developers to join our Guidance and Control Technologies (GCT) Division of the Undersea Systems Office (USO) at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University.

    ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).

    The GCT Division supports a number of research areas and projects in artificial intelligence, autonomous control, machine learning, cybersecurity, and test and evaluations; providing a diverse and unique opportunity for the applicant.

    ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

    You Will:
    Design, implement, integrate, and test software systems which perform a variety of project specific goals

    Collaborate within a team environment to integrate and test the software system

    Generate software documentation, test plans, and presentation materials

    Have the opportunity for occasional travel to support field testing and demonstrations


    Typical requirements include an Associate's Degree or higher; 2+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Required skills/experience areas include:
    Software programming with a high-level programming language such as Python or C++, MATLAB

    Software development with tools to perform configuration management, issue tracking, and testing


    Preferred skills/experience areas include:

    Software design experience:
    Object-oriented and functional design

    Past success in providing ideas in written form for clear comprehension to an audience

    Demonstrated ability to work through a difficult problem, using proper steps to define and formulate ideas to reach a solution

    Past success in providing ideas in written form for clear comprehension to an audience

    Previous success with collaborations in a diverse, multi-disciplinary, team-oriented culture

    Your working location will be onsite located in State College, PA.
