JOB DESCRIPTION: To assist with the development and direction of student transportation and safety
programs. To provide a continuous specialized safety and skills improvement program to ensure a highly
qualified transportation staff. This program must include all pupil transportation laws as outlined by District
Policies, State laws, Federal Rules and Regulations. To assist in providing student safety programs.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Supervisory or personnel management experience
desired. Ability to teach children safety awareness. Must have an Arizona Commercial Driver's License (Class B)
with a minimum of two years experience; Department of Public Safety (DPS) Classroom Instructor,
Behind-The-Wheel Training Instructor, and Physical Performance Tester Certificates.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Perform a variety of support duties as assigned including typing correspondence, memos, agendas, and
distributing mail. Answer telephones, screen/route calls, and document messages.
? Maintain proper employee records for the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD), and the Department of
Public Safety (DPS) for all drivers, as well as DPS annual bus driver audits.
? Submit records of training for new drivers and refresher, training for existing drivers to DPS. when
completed. Maintain "check-ride" evaluations of employees.
? Maintain DPS Instructor / Trainer Certifications. Manage the office and/or emergencies in the event the
Transportation Director is out of the office.
? Assist the Director in video requests.
? Provide white fleet vehicle usage and training.
? Track all phases of training necessary for new and continuing bus drivers and bus assistants
? Prepare and present the curriculum used in the school classroom to instruct pupils on proper procedures
when riding a school bus.
? Prepare and present the curriculum used in the school classroom to instruct pupils on proper
neighborhood safety, including walking and crossing streets in route to and from school.
? Coordinate training and other services necessary such as CPI, CPR/FA, IVP fingerprint clearance cards,
etc.
? Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of roads and streets in Phoenix and other relevant areas, while
maintaining current knowledge of routes and locations to assure accurate timely services.
? Communicate with parents, supervisors, school administrators, and department employees.
? Maintain just and courteous relationships with all professional contacts.
? Perform other duties as assigned.
SALARY: Twelve-month position, beginning salary Level 39, employee benefits in accordance with Board
Policies.
EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy on the evaluation of support
personnel.
