    Description
    Overview

    Expedite patient care and room turnover times for the cardiac surgery rooms. Aid Perfusionist with assembly of rotating heart-lung machines with sterile set-up. Manage cell saver machine cleaning, disinfection and maintenance.

    Performs assigned patient care, as well as a variety of environmental and Supply Chain functions including the operation of cell saver equipment which support patient care activities in the intraoperative period.

    Responsibilities

    Assist Perfusionist with processes of care of equipment during procedures. Prepare supply carts for procedures (fluids, drugs, etc.). Set-up, operate, document and takedown of Cell Saver machines. Perform ABGs (arterial blood gas) as needed and serve as lab runner. Assist with care of equipment issues intra-case. Prepare IABP (intra-aortic balloon pump) console, assists with ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation). Perform weekly Quality Assurance/Control on heparin monitoring system. Order supplies & medications, and stock carts. Assist with both written and electronic documentation and Quality Assurance/Control. Periodically outdate and re-order disposable supplies. Assist in quarterly cleaning and disinfection of heater/coolers under FDA regulations.

    Maintain all main OR cell saver machines and perfusion pumps including PM (preventive maintenance) coordination with Biomed, outdating supplies, etc.

    Work with Perfusion to provide quarterly in-services to Perioperative Services Technician cell saver operation. Cleaning all Perfusion space and equipment. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

    Qualifications


    • High school diploma
    • 1 year of health care experience preferred
    • Ability to anticipate, prioritize, and coordinate work in a high stress environment (which involves responding to emergency situations and tight schedules) required.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
    Required Licensure/Certifications


    • BLS Certification within four (4) weeks of hire date
    • Credentialing as a Cell Saver operator required within 3 months.
    • Currently registered in the state of New Hampshire as a Medical Technician.
