    Job Opportunity:


    Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an IT Project Manager within the IT Underwriting team, who will be responsible for planning, facilitating, and supporting the execution of our business systems initiatives.

    The role will drive the execution of these projects with a focus on delivery, status tracking, issue identification, and risk management.

    This role will require you to work together with the delivery leads to deliver the products that meet and/or exceed our business customer expectations within the underwriting vertical.


    Duties & Responsibilities:
    Manage projects with a high degree of complexity and confidentiality
    Develop and maintain key project documents: project charter, scope, detailed work plans with milestones, timeline, issue log, status reports, Gantt charts, budgets, meeting agendas, and meeting minutes
    Actively engage with project team members and business stakeholders to solicit their ideas, confirm expectations, communicate commitments, and proactively drive the project forward
    Actively engage with all team members – business analysts, developers, and testers to monitor their day-to-day work, solicit ideas, confirm expectations, and communicate commitments through a collaborative environment of mentorship in their focus areas
    Act as a mediator and facilitate dialogue when the project hits roadblocks
    Effectively manage project scope by ensuring changes are clearly defined, discussed, agreed to, and documented
    Prepare for, facilitate, document, and actively follow up on action items from project meetings
    Track and report on project milestones, solicit status from team members and provide a consolidated view of project status, schedule, risks, and issues
    Drive post-implementation assessment and lessons learned
    Organize project deliverables and assets such that they can be reused in the future
    Perform quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected
    Conduct and communicate risk assessments for projects
    Implement IT strategies that deliver projects on schedule and within budget


    Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
    3+ years of experience in leading and managing complex systems projects
    Experience in leading Waterfall and Agile software delivery models
    Proven ability to engage with senior management to elicit cooperation, capture complex ideas, and probe for details
    Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task while balancing diverse priorities
    Adept and eager to become engaged in a wide variety of business initiatives that require an understanding of diverse business, legal, compliance, and technical topics
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at working in a matrix environment
    Adept at rapidly responding to changes in priorities and deadlines
    Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
