    Description

    Are you looking for 8 hour shifts with base hours Monday - Friday? Contracted pay increases? Excellent benefits? BorgWarner Ithaca is in search of qualified Electricians to join our maintenance team.

    BorgWarner is a global product leader in powertrain solutions. We focus on developing leading powertrain technologies that improve fuel economy, emissions and performance. Our facilities are located across the globe to provide local support for our diverse customer base. The Ithaca Campus has two production plants, focusing on engine timing systems and drivetrain chain. Job SummaryPerform maintenance operations such as moving, rearranging, installing and repairing facilities and utilities throughout the complex.

    Installs, maintains and repairs; plant pipe systems and related equipment (i.e., steam, air, water, gas hydraulic system) building equipment (i.e., structural steel, iron rails, fireproof doors, door checks and locks) plant facilities (i.e., boilers, engines, steam heating plants, oil burners and compressors).

    Prepare footings and bases for machines equipment and partition installations.
    Dismantle and move equipment from one location to another or for shipment from the plant as required.
    Devise special handling and rigging techniques to prevent damage.
    Perform general sheet metal work.

    Operate a variety of electric and gas welding, brazing, soldering, induction, resistance and flames cutting hand and power operated equipment.

    Fabrication of various tables, pans, guards, skids and other miscellaneous equipment.


    JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
    Qualified candidates will acquire drawings, specifications, tools and equipment, and materials as required by assignment.

    They will use extensive skills of the mechanic trades with the application of electric circuitry and appropriate soft wiring procedures.

    This will include displaying the highest application of mechanical knowledge of how/why mechanical equipment works, performing sophisticated diagnostic and repair activities on complex mechanical, machinery systems.

    Mechanics must understand sophisticated technical graphical representation including computer operator interface panels with graphic displays.

    The ability to complete computations involving trigonometry and other mathematical methods is vital and they will engage in significant decisions based on established guidelines including relationships usually involve discussion with collaborators.


    SAFETY:

    This position will adhere to GlobalStar Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner Safety Policy Manual, which includes the use of equipment, protective devices or clothing that the employer requires.

    This individual will work in manners that stress the importance of preventing accidents and illnesses. They must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and coworkers.

    In addition, they are responsible for reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.


    EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:
    New York State Journeyperson Card OR 3+ years transferrable experience
    Expensive Machine Troubleshooting Experience
    Proficient gas welding experience
    Solid Understanding of High Voltage Applications
    Rigging experience preferred
    High School Diploma or GED Required
