- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings within students' overall programs, offer recommendations, and develop individual plans to improve student literacy and social communication skills.
- Develop speech and language-based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results, specifically to address literacy and social communication deficits that impede learning in current school/vocational settings.
- Develop small group and dyad activities for students in the areas of literacy and social communication.
- Use Behavior Skills Training to coach Lead Teachers, Instructional Assistants, family members, and other team members to implement speech and language recommendations and strategies.
- Evaluate each student's abilities and formulate each student's communication profile through records review, formal and informal assessments, skill observation, and interviews. Synthesize intake evaluation results into a brief written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the current school/vocational setting.
- Probe strategies directly with students to identify which may be effective.
- Research and recommend adaptations and modifications to the environment including assistive technology (AAC devices).
- Document student progress with daily notes, analyze data for speech and language-related IEP objectives and provide recommendations for changes in programming based on progress or lack thereof.
- Provide legal and ethical clinical supervision of Speech Language Pathologist Assistant, assuming responsibility for the students served by the Assistant.
- A commitment to working with young people with developmental disabilities.
- Four-year college degree with Special Education Teaching license and/or on a Temporary Teacher Eligibility/Interim Teacher License:
- PLUS four years' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (highly preferred).
- Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis and of evidence-based practices for children with autism spectrum disorder (highly preferred).
- Minimum age of 21.
- Maturity and reliability.
- Good driving record and valid Colorado Driver's License.

Description
SUMMARY: The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for assessing, diagnosing and treating vocal and cognitive impairments for students. The SLP will conduct specialized testing and provide therapy designed for an individual student's needs. As a multidisciplinary team member, the SLP will collaborate with and train staff in evidence-based practices.

Education/Experience:
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. The Lead Teacher will write business correspondence and will effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Certificates and Licenses:

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position supervises a team of Instructional Assistants.
Computer/Technical Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software, Google Suite software and knowledge of data collection platform software.

This role operates in a classroom environment. This role routinely uses iPads, laptops, copy machines, walkie talkies. Extended or non-traditional work hours may sometimes be required. 20% local travel may be expected in this role. Noise level is low to loud. Staff should anticipate an environment that includes students in crisis (aggression, contact with bodily fluids, property destruction, screaming, self-injurious behavior).
