    Position Summary

    We are seeking a skilled Pediatric Plastic Surgery Physician Assistant to join our team at Phoenix Children's Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. This busy division has multiple locations in the East and West Valley, as well as our main campus in Phoenix. The ideal candidate will work closely with a pediatric plastic surgeon specializing in Hand Surgery, Microvascular Surgery, and general pediatric plastic surgery. Responsibilities include assisting in OR procedures, running post-op clinics, and working alongside attendings, residents, and other PAs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Additional responsibilities include handling weekday and some weekend/holiday call coverage, answering hospital/outpatient phone calls, and assisting with urgent surgeries. Key duties include OR first assist, patient evaluation for post-op population, entering procedure orders, rounding on inpatients, and daily EHR documentation.

    Position Duties
    1. Conducts comprehensive health history, physical assessments, and plans for infants, children, and young adults with acute and chronic health conditions.
    2. Orders and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and performs other therapeutic or corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status.
    3. Formulates family-centered plan of care, performs daily documents as necessary, collaborates and coordinates care with other team members.
    4. Collects data and analyzes when necessary.
    5. Performs any needed advanced procedures associated with their credentialing process DOP.
    6. Utilizes the most up-to-date and evidence-based practice for plan of care and alters the plan according to family needs and effectiveness.
    7. Serves as an educational resource to patient/family/nursing staff/provider team and other healthcare teams as needed.
    8. Participates in own professional development by maintaining required competences, certifying body renewals, seeking educational offerings when available, and participates in the professional development of others.
    9. Demonstrates commitment to patient safety by bringing up concerns in an appropriate manner, reporting through appropriate channels, and ensuring change of practice when necessary.
    10. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.
