    Job Description

    The Lead Technologist will assist the Laboratory Administrative Director in the day-to-day supervision or oversight of the laboratory's operation.

    Review and assessment of quality control, quality improvement, quality assurance, preventive maintenance, and functional verification on all equipment in the Laboratory is required.

    A clinically competent member of the Laboratory who will perform testing/accessioning of specimens submitted to the Laboratory as well as specimens collected by other staff/physician offices/clinics.

    Uses data and information to identify and perform problem solving skills that supports the safety and quality of laboratory services.

    The Lead Technologist will assist with the scheduling of staff to provide the best coverage in both quality/quantity for patient care at MVRMC.

    Expected to provide a positive image of MVRMC and to be able to communicate effectively with patients, peers, physicians and visitors.


    Required:

    Registered or eligible for registration as a Medical Technologist, MT (ASCP), MT (AMT), or CLS (NCA) and/or Baccalaureate degree from any accredited college/university; degree must be in Medical Technology or military equivalent experience.

    OR Medical Lab Technologist (MLT). or Associates degree from an approved MLT (CLT) school.


    Experience:

    Required:
    Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a high complexity testing Laboratory. Previously been in a proven leadership role.

    Preferred:
    Supervisor/Lead Technologist in a high complexity testing Laboratory.


    Licenses/Certificates:

    Preferred:
    Certification/registration or certification/registry eligible as a Medical technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician
