    POSITION TITLE: Early Childhood Social Worker

    FLSA: Exempt

    QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper state certification

    REPORTS TO: Principal and/or Supervisor

    Experience:
    • 3 years of experience preferred in the following areas: social work, home visiting, teaching, and/or counseling
    • Proven track record of assisting diverse learners
    • Ability to communicate effectively
    • Basic technology skills
    Education/Certification:
    • Bachelor's degree; Master's preferred
    • Social Work
    • Cross associated degree programs to social work
    Essential Qualifications
    • Guide and counselor groups or individual students through the development of social skills, educational skills, behavior management, and social/emotional health.
    • Accept referrals from staff, parents, and community persons on students who have attendance and/or behavior crises and who have not responded to the efforts of the teacher, principal, or other staff.
    • Counsel small groups and individual students with problems.
    • Consult with teachers, staff and parents regarding the developmental needs of students.
    • Consult and clarify identified problems/issues with the referral source and student; contact parent/guardian, as feasible and appropriate.
    • Evaluate attendance data and interventions while leading building to address attendance concerns.
    • Study and assess problem areas, develop and implement appropriate interventions-casework and/or group work, set reasonable time frameworks for improving or alleviating problems or making other educational or agency referrals.
    • Provide on-going feedback to referral source, student, and parent/guardian.
    • Support building and classrooms with behavior needs and crises.
    • Study situations of students officially withdrawn for misconduct or non-attendance, decide on treatment plans/interventions, provide social work services, seek outside agencies if applicable, and make recommendations regarding school reinstatement.
    • Work with community entities for community resources and professional networks.
    • Refer abused and neglected children to the State Division of Children's Services.
    • Assist families to secure access to health services, clothing and other material needs if these are preventing the child's enrollment or attendance.
    • Working as a member of the educational team and participate in other professional auxiliary disciplines towards the understanding and resolution of student's school problems.
    • Act as a liaison between the school, community agencies, and home.
    • Participate as an active member of the MTSS teams, Student Support Services, nurse, Parents and Teachers, and administration.
    • Keep casework and group work reports on appropriate case situations.
    Other Functions:
    • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the District
