    Our Ideal Candidate

    St. John's seeks innovative, exemplary Middle Division Math and Science teacher who is deeply committed to educational best practices and who share our vision of making St. John's the premier independent school in Orange County. This is an Academic School Year position and will report to the Head of Middle Division.

    The Middle School math and science teacher will facilitate a math and science program which is student-centered, engaging, and relevant to our students, challenging them to become imaginative and critical thinkers.? The teacher will provide opportunities to acquire science skills, to understand the process of science, and to ignite a passion for science knowledge. The teacher will facilitate the mathematical growth of students in a student-centered, developmentally appropriate environment, following a differentiated curriculum, which develops students' curiosity and encourages higher-level thinking. The teacher will be an essential member of the science curriculum development team, along with the other Middle School science teachers, the Technology Specialist, and STEAM Specialist.? While developing and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, and faculty members, the middle school teacher will recognize and coach the social-emotional needs of each student.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred
    • A minimum of three years of teaching in an independent school environment preferred
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills, including the ability to relate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, operations staff, and administrators
