    Description

    This position is a 0.33 FTE position at the rank of Clinical Associate Professor or above, and reports to the Program Director.

    The Medical Director supports the PA and actively participates in development of the PA both the didactic instruction and supervised clinical experiences to develop program competencies that meet current practice standards as they relate to the PA role in providing patient care as well as the ARC-PA Standards of accreditations.

    The Medical Director will also serve as an advocate for the program and a liaison to the medical community within the state and region, helping to facilitate the development of relationships for clinical placements, faculty recruitment and program growth.

    Additionally, the medical director will work with the Program Director, Dean and other members of the academic leadership at the University to assess the program and implement plans for continuous quality improvement across the curriculum.

    The medical director facilitates the development, implementation, and evaluation of both the curriculum and program overall and participates in committees related to the operations within the PA program.

    The Medical Director for the PA program will serve under the Program Director.

    Minimum Requirements


    • A Doctoral degree in a health, education, or administrative discipline.
    • Earned medical degree from an LCME or AOA accredited institution
    • Licensure as a physician within the state of North Carolina.
    Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education


    • Current Certified by an ABMS-or AOA-approved specialty board.
    • Knowledge of the physician assistant program accreditation process and familiarity with the details of experiential education and site establishment within the healthcare community.
    • Current physician license in the state of North Carolina and current board certification (AOA or ABMS) and work clinically as a physician in the community
    • Commitment to inclusive education and developing cultural competencies among graduate students with a lens toward social justice education
