    The Tacoma Rescue Mission (TRM) is a faith-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to offer God's help, hope, and healing to our neighbors in need. We are proud to have served the Tacoma and Pierce County communities since 1912. For over 100 years we have continued to serve in the name of Christ, while emphasizing the dignity of each person who enters our doors.     Job Purpose

    Maintains a safe, clean, hospitable, and dignifying environment for all guests and staff; assisting in the provision of trauma-informed, person-first, and grace-based program space to meet the needs of those who seek TRM's services.

    Tacoma Rescue Mission Competencies

    Client Relationships and Interactions: Connect clients, volunteers, donors, team members, and guests to the mission and vision of The Tacoma Rescue Mission and its programs. Establish rapport and build relationships through effective communication, making all feel understood and valued. Assess needs and share appropriate resources, boosting client confidence in The Tacoma Rescue Mission and its team members.

    Creativity and Expansion: Cultivate an environment that constantly seeks growth and adaptation, enhancing services offered. Research and develop new insights and strategies that improve Mission functionality and performance. Embrace the unknown and uncharted territory, pushing limits to increase skill, knowledge, and resources.

    Leadership and Culture: Champions the Tacoma Rescue Mission's core values and pillars, ensuring a high level of service with a commitment to changing lives. Creates a platform that empowers those within the Mission and the community to establish and take ownership of a culture founded on team, trust, and truth.

    Professionalism: Carries the current knowledge and operational skills required to perform well, utilizing best practices and demonstrates the desire to grow professionally. Helps create a safe space for Team Members to hold others accountable for behavior and performance, empathetically listens and communicates for understanding when negotiating and dealing with conflict. Setting the standard of quality, providing staff with feedback, coaching, guidance, and support.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    Culture Work

    • Establish professional, caring, strengths-based relationships built on truth, respect, encouragement and trust.
    • Maintain a high level of integrity in modelling and promoting the Mission's core values and culture standards.
    Team Work
    • Work as a member of Counseling Services to:
    • Develop and contribute to successful, relationally rich, community environment in client programs
    • Ensure appropriate and therapeutically informed care to facilitate client growth and healing
    • Participate in systems of client outcome data capture
    • Proactively assist as necessary in the overall success of the Mission
    Direct Work
    • Provide an agreed upon minimum of direct client hours per week of individual, family, couples counseling or case management.
    • Carry a caseload with a minimum of 15 clients as assigned by supervisor.
    • Lead 1-2 workshops or groups per week as assigned by supervisor.
    • Maintain client record-keeping systems in keeping with ethical best-practices, including measurable treatment outcome records.
    • Maintain best practices for relationally driven counseling in a Christian ministry environment.
    • Coordinate services as necessary and beneficial with all Rescue Mission client program departments and outside agencies.
    • Promote safety and security of Mission programs and facilities.
    • Attend meetings within the Mission and represent the Mission at meetings within the community.
    • Participate in regular supervision and consult with Counseling Team.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
    Working Conditions

    Varied. Some office work and some travel required between locations. May be required to be outdoors in inclement weather and/or work irregular hours in order to properly lead and supervise certain client programs.

    Requirements

    •Masters degree in Counseling or related field

    •LMHC or LMHCA or equivalent credential in Washington state

    •Licensed Social Work Associate Independent Clinical

    •Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker

    •Additional training in trauma-informed care and trauma-specific approaches

    •Excellent written, verbal and electronic communication skills

    •Basic math and grammar skills

    •Demonstrated success making independent decisions and taking actions showing good judgment

    •Ability to prevent or resolve conflict with grace and accountability

    •Ability to work as a member of a team, inspiring trust and speaking truth

    •WA Driver License, good driving record, proof of insurance

    Schedule and Work Location

    Schedule:

    Monday - Friday: 8:30 am - 5pm

    Primary Location of Work:

    Downtown Campus & Tyler Campus
