- Complete therapist scheduling for each patient.
- Update therapy communication board.
- Assists in preparing patients for treatment according to schedule.
- Assists in bringing the patients to/from gym for their scheduled treatment time, including Physical and Occupational Therapy group.
- Assists therapists with getting patients out of bed, as needed.
- Assists therapists with patient treatment sessions.
- Adheres to supervision requirements during patient care/treatment.
- Assists Physical Therapy in patient care as assigned by Physical Therapist, i.e. ambulation, transfers, or functional activities, as determined.
- Assists Occupational Therapy in patient care as assigned by Occupational Therapist, i.e. ADL's, therapeutic exercises, or functional activities, as determined.
- Provides new patients with wheelchair upon therapist's instructions, as needed.
- Inventory of all daily supplies and submit request to order according to the PAR levels of each item.
- File therapist documentation in patient chart.
- Cleans all weights, dumbbells and any other exercise equipment used daily.
- Prepares weights for individual patients for Physical and Occupational Therapy group according to the list posted.
- Assists with keeping linen stocked in supply room with towels, face cloths, sheets, gowns and linen bags.
- Removes all dirty linen from the treatment mat and/or gym after each patient use and place into laundry cart immediately.
- Maintains the laundry room cleanliness and supplies.
- Places clean linen on the mat for patient use/prepares treatment area.
- Keeps wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches cleaned and organized in designated storage closet.
- Keeps supply room clean and organized.
- Checks hydrocollator temperatures daily and record on maintenance log. Initial log daily and notify Program Manager of temperatures above 170°ree;F and/or below 150°ree;F.
- Drains and sanitizes hydrocollator unit monthly and document on maintenance log. Add water to unit as needed to cover all hot packs.
- Drains and cleans paraffin unit at least quarterly and document on maintenance log. Add wax to unit as needed.
- Cleans all Durable Medical Equipment (DME) immediately after patient use and store in the proper place.
- Retrieves all United Medical Healthwest Durable Medical Equipment (DME) from patients upon day of discharge.
- Maintains safe and clean work area and adheres to facility/company safety standards.
- Maintains positive relationships and rapport with coworkers, patients, family members and facility personnel.
- Complies with all Infection Control, Universal Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
- Adheres to established confidentiality standards.
- Projects a positive and professional image at all times.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Able to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing.
- Able to carry out duties effectively as they are assigned by the therapist.
- High school Diploma or General Degree (GED)
- At least one year experience in Rehabilitation preferred
