    Position Summary

    Spencer Stuart seeks a Law Clerk to work directly with multiple attorneys in an exceptionally strong in-house legal team. The Law Clerk will assist attorneys primarily in all stages of corporate transactions by reviewing, revising and preparing legal documents (contracts), researching issues, and providing assistance with general legal and business matters. Should opportunities arise, the position may provide general exposure to other areas of law such as Employment, Privacy, Risk, Corporate and Governance. No legal specialization is necessary.

    The work for this position will primarily support our US offices, but members of the legal department are located across the US and the world and support all worldwide offices.

    The Law Clerk is a results-oriented individual with a demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment. They are intellectually curious with a desire to learn about Spencer Stuart, the firm's business model and the law. The Law Clerk communicates and functions with discretion while accepting ownership for new and different tasks.

    Ideal Experience
    • Currently enrolled in Law School. Student completing their first or second year
    • One year of experience working in a professional setting. Preferably within an in-house legal department, but any professional experience is welcomed
    • Fluency in English (written and spoken).Additional language skills will be an advantage
    Critical Capabilities

    Legal Expertise: Support the legal team efforts to serve the best interests of the firm by:
    • Draft legal documents, including but not limited to client contracts and confidentiality agreements.
    • Reading lengthy and complex legal documents, analyzing the content, revising the terms and explaining these in clear, concise responses.
    • Researching general and diverse areas of the law using the internet, Lexis and other legal resources.
    • Provide general legal support, research and communication services on matters ranging from basic to complex across many legal subject matter areas.
    • Assisting attorneys if necessary with other general legal and business matters in areas of the law such as Contracts, Employment, Privacy, Risk, Corporate and Governance.
    Workflow Management: In a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines, complete tasks in a timely manner by:
    • Applying project management and organizational skills and techniques to prioritize and monitor work to meet deadlines.
    • Accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different tasks.
    • Working independently and as a contributing member of a team.

    Candidate must attach a writing sample along with their resume. The writing sample should be no longer than three pages.

    The base compensation range for this position is $20 -$25 an hour. The actual base compensation offered within this range will be dependent on the individual's skills, experiences, and qualifications. This position will be eligible to participate in our annual discretionary bonus program.
