    Description

    Summary

    This position is located in the Office of the Deputy General Counsel (Environment, Energy, and Installations (EE&I) of the Department of Defense. The incumbent of this position reports to the Deputy General Counsel (EE&I), who is responsible for legal advice and services pertaining to environmental programs and requirements; environmental litigation; energy policy and programs; installation programs and requirements; and grants and cooperative agreements.

    Duties

    Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:
  • Advising DoD clients on legal issues related to environmental laws such as the Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Toxic Substances Control Act, the Clean Air Act, Liability Act (CERCLA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA),etc., Climate Change and Sustainability.
  • Represents the Department of Defense on various White House and inter-Executive Branch work groups and committees established to recommend or revise national policies concerning matters within assigned areas.
  • Assists in preparing congressional testimony, back-up books, and responses to Congressional inquiries.
  • Reports on foreseeable effects of changes in the law on DoD operations and programs and works closely with policy and program officials in the discussion of such matters.
