- Responsible for performing x-ray studies, ordered by a licensed provider.
- Prepares room, equipment, and necessary paperwork.
- Prepares the patient for the examination and explains the procedure to the patient.
- Provides radiation protection for the patient according to prescribed safety standards.
- Transfers patient to and from x-ray room; positions patient correctly for x-ray being taken.
- Operates x-ray equipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, thus producing good quality radiographs.
- Follows protocols and guidelines to ensure accurate and high-quality images.
- Develops films using automatic processor.
- Places patient identification and markers on radiographs.
- Collaborates with Clinicians to provide necessary imaging support for patient care.
- Reports equipment failures and participates in quality assurance.
- Inventories and order supplies.
- Maintains Patient Daily Log.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Duties require the ability to effectively perform in response to workflow or ongoing direction by supervisors or others.
- Ability to effectively select from pre-established alternatives to resolve situations encountered on the job.
- Duties require analysis of information following established methods, not requiring the employee's own opinions.
- Employee's focus is primarily on their own work.
- Requires the compilation of information.
- Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and procedures.
- Knowledge of operating X-ray equipment and understanding imaging techniques.
- Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word.
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel to create tables and simple displays of information.
- Graduation or completion of an approved program resulting in limited x-ray technician licensure by the State of California.
- Job duties require the employee to effectively communicate complex and/or technical information to co-workers and others.
- Employees are expected to exercise tact and diplomacy in the resolution of mild conflicts or disagreements.
- Requires the effective communication of written information including electronic correspondence.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
