    The Licensed Practical Nurse II works under the supervision of a registered professional nurse to provide care for patients and families of all ages.

    The LPN II participates in the assessment process by collecting information and reporting to the RN.

    They assist in formulating the plan of care and monitor patient nutrition and fluid balance.

    The LPN II also provides emotional support to patients and families and is proficient in using the hospital's information system.

    They administer medication within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act and document medications and IV administration according to policy.

    The LPN II notifies the RN of orders for medications that they are not permitted to administer and monitors patient safety as outlined in PCP and hospital policy.

    Requirements:

    • Graduation from an accredited LPN program
    • Current licensure in New York State or eligibility for a limited permit to practice
    • Documentation of successful completion of pharmacology coursework required
    • Current BLS certification

    Responsibilities:

    • Participate in the assessment process by collecting information and reporting to the RN
    • Assist in formulating the plan of care
    • Monitor patient nutrition and fluid balance
    • Provide emotional support to patients and families
    • Proficient in using the hospital's information system
    • Administer medication within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act

    Physical Requirements:

    • Possess physical abilities to push/pull, lift/move 35 pounds, perform moderately difficult manual manipulations, and tasks requiring hand-eye coordination
