    Mary's University of San Antonio, a private, Catholic and Marianist University, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, 9-month, faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2024.

    This position will include a joint appointment in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Department of Biological Sciences.

    We are seeking a scientist with teaching expertise at the university level to teach Biochemistry I, Biochemistry II, and one or more of the following service courses:
    General Biology, General Chemistry, and Cell and Molecular Methods.

    This position also carries an expectation of research involving undergraduates, academic advising, and service at the department, school, University, and community levels.

    The presence of an active biomedical research community in the San Antonio area provides the opportunity to establish collaborative research projects in many fields.


    Qualifications:

    • PhD in Biochemistry or related discipline from an accredited university; ABD candidates will be considered
    • Experience teaching undergraduates at the university level (two years)
    • Ability to engage students using best-practice pedagogy
    • Active research program in biochemistry that engages undergraduate students

    Responsibilities:

    • Teach four sections (lectures and labs) of courses per semester including biochemistry, and other courses in biological/chemical sciences as assigned
    • Provide instruction using various methods of content and interactive approaches
    • Develop a research program in biochemistry engaging undergraduate students
    • Maintains scholarly activities including attending conferences, applying for research grant funding, dissemination of research findings
    • Academic advising for students in the department
    • Engage in service at the department, school, University, and community levels
    • Contribute to the University's Marianist educational mission )
