MRC has an immediate need for a passionate and dedicated individual focused on national security issues relating to undersea warfare
The Submarine Engineering Technician will provide engineering and technical support for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport (NUWCDIVNPT)
Work will primarily occur in-person at NUWCDIVNPT, with periodic travel (if necessary to support task execution.) The qualified candidate will support (and/or complete) design execution of significant alterations to existing Navy submarine systems, support integration of existing equipment or software into different applications or platforms to support the warfighter, and support evaluation of foreign or non-developmental weapons systems, equipment, and technologies to satisfy existing war fighting requirements
Generally, many engineering technicians conduct testing, production efforts, or maintenance by planning and supervising test and evaluation and production practices
Qualified applicants will have a strong background in hand-on operation of technical equipment, development and production/ fabrication efforts, and subsystem and systems-level troubleshooting practices
They may be required to supervise a team of more junior technicians to lead the completion of various efforts

REQUIREMENTS

• For Level

III:
High School Degree / GED with 7+ years' experience, preferably in an engineering/ technical discipline
Applicable vocational degrees or certifications may be considered.

For Level IV:
Bachelor's level degree with 10+ years' experience, preferably in an engineering/ technical discipline

5 or more years of additional relevant experience from military or private sector may be considered in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree.

• Experience executing test plans or reviewing technical design documents, such as electronics or mechanical schematics, test plans, or maintenance procedures
• Active US Department of Defense Secret clearance, with an ability to be eligible for a Top Secret Clearance (if required for specific tasking) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• An ability to understand technical documents and tactics, techniques, and procedures documents, and compare those to programmatic requirements

Also, and ability to quickly derive information from such documents for presentation to program stakeholders with various backgrounds

• Previous experience with submarine launchers, weapons systems, defensive systems, and various undersea payloads.
• Experience operating, maintaining, testing, or analyzing US Navy systems or complex mechanical or software systems especially those mentioned above
• Experience and/or qualifications associated with soldering, welding, cable manufacturing, electronics or mechanical systems fabrication, or other related prototyping
