    The Staff Analyzer Engineer is a position in Process, Automation, Control and Optimization (PACO) and Instrumentation Department providing functional leadership, technical support, and compliance inspections in the Analyzer discipline for Capital Projects at Shell Deer Park Chemicals. The Analyzer Engineer provides technical assurance and compliance verification during the construction, commissioning and start-up phases of the Project Process. The Analyzer Engineer is a key member of the Project Team supporting the site to ensure safe, reliable operations by providing technical assurance in the design of Analyzer equipment, systems, and applications.

    The Analyzer Engineer role is a highly collaborative and dynamic position and successful candidates must be able to work alone and as part of a team. You will be able to interface with Project managers, unit support engineers, production support, other project discipline personnel, contract engineers, and vendor/manufacturer's representatives as well as multiple levels of the leadership organization.

    Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
    • Provide overall discipline technical assurance for Analyzer Projects. Ensure that the project complies with all technical assurance requirements as defined by Control Systems (CEMS, Quality Process, mandatory maintenance, documentation, compliance with applicable standards / procedures / specifications).
    • Support analyzer systems, projects, quality assurance and strategic planning.
    • Engineering authority for analyzer problem solving, replacements, upgrades or new technology.
    • Researches, identifies, and selects the most appropriate fit-for-purpose analyzer technology.
    • Develops and maintains evergreen 10-year analyzer replacement plans for obsolete analyzers.
    • Evaluates contractors and approves engineering, construction and system integration contractors for analyzer projects on site.
    • Interfaces with Operations, Environmental, Business and other site disciplines as needed to address their long-term analyzer needs and recommends appropriate solution.
    • Assists Inspectors and Specialist to troubleshoot analyzer problems as needed.
    • Supports Control Systems Engineers assigned to Projects on analyzer problems and issues.
    • Develops and owns all Quality System Plans (QSP) / ISO documents and work-processes.
    • Reviews analyzer performance histories, applies Statistical Quality Control(SQC) tools to optimize analyzer PM's and validation schedules. Routes PM change requests for schedule changes.
    • Leads root cause analysis on analyzer related problems.
    • Focal Point in incident investigation for Analyzer Technical Group as needed.
    • Ensures maximum profitability to business from analyzer systems.
    • Work with Reliability organization to conduct Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) studies for analyzers.
    • Support Turnaround (TA) (ie. shutdown, start-up planning).
    • Create, review, audit and implement procedures for critical systems related to process analyzers.
    • Capture red-lines and changes to Issued for Construction drawings for the creation of the AS-BUILT revision.
    • Participate in factory acceptance tests of Analyzer Packages.
    • Assure that analyzer documentation such as loop drawings, equipment spec sheets, etc. are updated.
    • Audit construction contractors' and subcontractors' quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) programs to ensure effectiveness.
    • Participate in developing operator training packages and the delivery of the training itself.
    • Review spare parts requirements and assure that agreed upon parts are entered into the SAP procurement system.
    • Provide analyzer project inspection and start-up support of new systems.
    What we need from you
    • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis
    • Must have completed one of the following: An Industry Accredited Training, or an Apprenticeship program, or an associate degree in Instrumentation/Control, Electrical/ Electronic Engineering / Technology (or equivalent) or relevant military experience
    • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the management of the lifecycle of process analyzer systems (including sample conditioning) (e.g., commissioning, operating, and maintaining).
    • Extensive knowledge of industry standards and analyzer design fundamentals
    • General instrumentation and process analyzer Quality Measurement Instruments (QMI) awareness
    • Process Control, applications, and engineering documentation (P&IDs, Control narratives, loop wiring diagrams etc.) and troubleshooting methodology.
    • Awareness in the fields of process technology and process dynamics
    • Familiarity with safety practices and techniques relating to the chemical industry (e.g., LOTO, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, Arc Flash awareness).
    • Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills
    • Strong organizational and planning skills (able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously)
    • Excellent communication skills (Oral/Written)
    • Innovative, flexible, and open to display Learner Mindset
    • Has the energy and enthusiasm with advocacy for important objectives
    The base salary range for this position is $122,000- $182,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

    For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave to birthing mothers, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

    Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
