    Description
    The Manager, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (MBS) Program manages accreditation criteria and ensures regulatory compliance for all assigned program(s). Assists in program development, managing the accreditation process, ensuring continuous compliance with MBSAQIP standards, maintaining relevant pathways and protocols, patient education, monitoring outcomes data and collection, quality improvement initiatives, and the education of relevant staff with a focus on metabolic and bariatric patient safety. Works directly with the MBS Director to ensure program success and support navigation of patients in the program, including working with the Surgery Department. Serves as the liaison between the facility and all metabolic and bariatric proceduralists at the hospital and any general surgeons providing call coverage. Administers MBS Committee meetings, including an annual comprehensive review of the program. Collects and submits accurate, complete, and timely data to the MBSAQIP Registry. Works closely with the members of the metabolic and bariatric and general surgery departments to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other special projects that may be identified. The MBS Program Coordinator/Clinical Reviewer position is a leadership position and has authority to implement required processes to ensure program success. May be responsible for employee coaching, training, hiring, counseling/discipline, performance assessment and payroll processes.
    • Active, current, and unencumbered Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
    • Two (2) years of experience with Bariatric Surgery Centers
    • Strong time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize tasks
    • Strong computer skills with Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel programs
    • Ability to build and maintain strong relationship at all levels of the organization
    • Knowledge of HIPPA regulations and standards
    • Basic Statistical Knowledge
    • Successfully completes the online MBSCR training program for MBS Reviewer Certification (may complete the program within the first year of hire)
    Develops and manages the accreditation process for the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program. Manages metabolic and bariatric program including committee meetings, staff education, and Pre and Post-operative patient education classes. Works closely with the Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery.|Ensures compliance with all applicable policies/procedures, laws, regulatory agency requirements, codes of practice, and organizational work standards (service, quality and safety standards). Effectively develops unit/department operational policies and procedures. Maintains records related to operations and services that are complete, accurate, available, and in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. Ensures Infection Control procedures and HIPAA compliance.|Develops and maintains quality improvement activities and recommends / implements changes as appropriate. Assumes responsibility for quality assurance data and participates in the collection and evaluation of quality improvement data (including reporting). Monitors internal controls and seeks to resolve issues in a timely manner. Provides effective oversight and guidance of staff and operations to ensure quality patient care, including audits of activities and documentation. Develops Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery performance improvement project annually.|Collaborates with staff and members of the healthcare team, ensuring the coordination of care between other disciplines and support staff. Acts as a source of information and articulately responds to questions, providing resources, guidance and education about diagnoses and course of treatment for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeries. Ensures accurate teaching and safe discharge process.|Ensures appropriate and safe staffing levels. Oversees contract labor, including appropriate credentialing, orientation and evaluation. Effectively allocates and evaluates department work and provides leadership and follow through to ensure that patient care is delivered in a timely, efficient manner. Creates a safe work environment that fosters respect and positive morale.
