The Department of Mathematics at Pacific Lutheran University seeks a full-time, 9-month (September – May) Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor to teach six sections of STAT 231, three in the Fall and three in the Spring. We seek a faculty member who is excited about statistics and working with students, and who will participate in the life of the department during their time at Pacific Lutheran University. This individual will teach six sections of the same course during the year. This course serves a diverse student body, both in terms of demographics and prior experiences with mathematics and statistics. We are looking for a candidate who will see students' backgrounds as assets and employ inclusive teaching and active learning pedagogies to ensure success of all students. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Because PLU is a community committed to the creation and advancement of knowledge through diversity and inclusion, the university actively recruits a diverse faculty, staff, and student body from all religions, races, socioeconomic groups, sexual orientations, and gender expressions and from all over the world.
