The Office of the Kansas Attorney General (OAG) is looking for a Legal Assistant to join our Sexually Violent Predator Unit in the Public Protection Division. Duties include:

PRIMARY DUTIES

• Assist in drafting, proofreading, and filing legal documents for civil proceedings
• Support attorneys during trials with witness and exhibit coordination
• Prepare administrative reports and legislative reports
• Manage electronic document systems and scan documents for storage
• Aid in trial preparation, including distributing discovery and preparing trial notebooks
• Maintain case files in paper and digital format
• Organize travel arrangements and prepare vouchers
• Provide general administrative support such as handling mail, calls, emails, and office tasks

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Additional responsibilities may be assigned at any time to enrich the role. Employees must be prepared to take on new tasks as needed.

The QUALIFICATIONS include:

• Legal studies or Paralegal degree from an ABA-accredited school
• Minimum of two years experience as a legal assistant or paralegal
• Customer service experience
• Strong organizational skills

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• At least four years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal
• Proficiency in electronic document management systems
• Experience with electronic discovery and filing

TRAVEL:

Travel may be necessary for this role, including some in-state travel. A valid driver's license is required for state, private, or rental vehicle use.
