Vista Structural Engineering, LLC, is one of the most sought out residential structural engineering firms in the Pacific Northwest.

We have ascended to this level because of our team of amazing people, which has been impressing clients since 2014.

We are growing quickly, with a team of 17 currently, and looking to continue to grow.

This would not have been possible without the wonderful, cohesive team of engineers, drafters, and our office manager that we've built together.

You would be working on custom and luxury homes starting at about 3,000 square feet, and going upwards of 20,000 square feet+.

In addition, you would also have the opportunity to work on some inspired remodels and additions with terrific architects, designers, and contractors.

The Vista team has built very strong relationships with our clients, as more than 90% of our projects come to us from repeat clients.

We provide for them a highly detailed set of plans and exceptional service. In turn, they consistently come back to us for their structural engineering needs. Clients have commented that we're like a bright, shiny unicorn - engineers who can talk and are all actually fun to work with

    Specializing in

    custom

residential engineering, we often have the opportunity to get our creativity flowing.

Not many of our projects have load paths that "stack perfectly" like the boxes you can tend to find in commercial construction.

We'll have projects that often seem to be floating in the air or that require creative lateral engineering solutions to work around a client's desired wide-open living areas and walls full of windows.

We're looking for someone who really enjoys the outside-the-box approach of coming up with solutions to really "wow" our clients - most of whom are architects, designers, home builders, and general contractors.

You're going to fit in really well with our team if you:

Have a strong "GSD" (Get S*** Done) attitude
Enjoy talking to clients and coming up with creative solutions
Place a strong emphasis on SERVICE
Are generally easy to get along with.

We would love to have you join us in working on projects like these two monsters, which are pretty typical of Team B.A.C.H.

projects (ask us what Team B.A.C.H.

    means :
    )).

    Home near Corvallis, OR

    IDEAL CANDIDATE CHARACTERISTICS:
B.S. in an engineering major, preferably (but not limited to) Civil Engineering
4 or more years of experience in residential or commercial wood-framed structural engineering
Very strong sense of self discipline (the position is fully remote)
Someone who knows how to design a residential structure to meet NDS, ACI, and AISC codes

Able to joke internally on a Microsoft Teams chat about implementing "air columns" or "sky hooks" on some of the really creative and far-out designs we get from architects and digging in and coming up with a real, innovative solution that our client loves.

Ready to join the rest of the team for an occasional happy hour (virtual or in-person)
A sense of humor is a must. We work hard, but we refuse to corner ourselves into the "typical engineer" stereotype. No grumpy engineers allowed at Vista.

    Home in Vancouver, Washington

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

You will be assigned residential projects, ranging from remodels and additions, to high-end luxury custom homes, and will be responsible for the entire project.

A typical project flow includes the following process:
Once assigned a project, introduce yourself to the client
Provide preliminary markups for our drafting team, who will set up the plans in AutoCAD with preliminary structural information (preliminary joist and beam layouts, roof truss layout, etc.)
Perform engineering, including calculations and marking up plans with gravity, lateral, and retaining wall information, and detail tags. This information will then be sent to our drafting team, who will implement your markups.

Details, details, details Some details will be copy/paste from our big detail library, while others will be custom details that you will either draft yourself or sketch on paper or Bluebeam and pass on to our drafting team.

Once the plans, detailing, and calculations are complete, you will send an approval request to one of our managing engineers, who will review the plans.

Once the review is complete, make any applicable revisions and then send it to our happy client

Measure of success will be completing an achievable minimum amount of work and thus invoicing a minimum multiple of your base salary on a quarterly basis.

Tiered Quarterly performance bonuses, ranging from $750 to $4,500,are awarded for achieving beyond the minimum level of success.
