    JOB DESCRIPTION

    General Summary: Teachers and Teacher Assistant shall be responsible for:

    1. WORKING WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE CENTER GUIDELINES; carrying out its functions, policies and procedures. The Assistant Teacher shall also observe the schedules in the center and adhere to all personnel policies and practices*.

    RESPONSIBILITIES-

    1. ASSIST IN THE SUPERVISION OF A GIVEN GROUP OF CHILDREN

    Supervise and ensure the safety, cleanliness and well-being of the children & school environment at all times. Be alert to needs and/or problems as individuals and as a group

    1. To assist in the planning and execution of a program to provide services for children taking into account the cognitive, social, cultural, health and developmental needs for ALL children.
    2. To share responsibility for keeping equipment and material accessible and in good condition thus, encouraging maximum constructive use by the children.
    3. To share responsibility for removing or reporting any damaged or hazardous equipment to the Director or other designated person so that necessary action may be taken.
    4. To share responsibility for planning and supervising an appropriate arrangement for the classroom design and or furniture placement to promote optimal program functioning.
    5. To assist in the overall planning for the best use of shared space in the center.
    6. To assist in utilizing community resources to enrich the educational content of the children's program.
    7. To assist in developing a program of sound educational goals appropriate to the age and developmental levels of each individual child AND the class as a whole, by providing various experiences and activities for children including but not limited to songs, games and storytelling.
    8. To build children's self-esteem and comfort children.
    9. To assist in establishing routines and provide positive guidance by clearly and effectively communicating in a manner that children understand.
    10. To observe children and make note of student progress. Keep students portfolios up-to-date, well maintained and safe.
    11. To integrate special needs children in a positive and respectful manner.
    12. To assist in utilizing the Creative Curriculum, Common Core Standards, New York State Standards and School Readiness Goals to ensure student achievement.
