- Performs Breast imaging studies to include mammography procedures and assists with needle biopsies, localizations and aspirations and may be required to perform breast imaging examinations in the department and ancillary areas.
- Adheres to the policies and procedures that apply to the performance of obtaining breast imaging studies, including performing correct, exam, including laterality, on correct patient at the time requested . Ensures that radiation safety precautions are taken.
- Provides basic information to patients and/or families about procedures to be performed and can answer questions if asked. Coordinates, communicates, and collaborates with Patient Financial Associates that register radiology exams to minimize delays and potential safety issues for the outpatient population.
- Assists with the upkeep of radiographic equipment, adheres to all related safety requirements and reports need for equipment repairs. Coordinates and collaborates with Technical Aides to ensure efficient room turnover.
- Ensures timely completion of all exams through tracking, scanning and other technical workflow as related to Radiology Information System (RIS, Enterprise Radiology Solutions (ERS) and Enterprise Electronic Record (EMR). Participates in orientation and other opportunities for learning as delegated for the department, other Hospital staff and students. Exemplifies SPIRIT values, actively participates in Patient Safety Standards and tasks.
- Vocational/Technical Diploma from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology; competency in didactic coursework and an ARRT-specified list of clinical procedures by completing competency requirements e stablished for the discipline in which they are seeking certification and registration.
- ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) or ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) - should be certified by ARRT for advanced certification in mammography within one year from date of hire.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) .
- 1 year of mammography-based experience preferred.
