American Commercial Barge Line is currently seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to join our dynamic maritime team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the maintenance and operation of our vessels' propulsion systems and machinery. Your Responsibilities:

• Oversee the engine room operations, ensuring all machinery and systems function safely and efficiently.
• Plan and perform routine maintenance and repairs on engine room equipment including generators, pumps, and engines.
• Report daily on fuel, water, and lubricant status and consumption to the wheelhouse.
• Adhere to safety protocols and conduct training and drills for the engine room crew.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance, preparing necessary reports for regulatory compliance.
• Provide comprehensive training and mentorship to the assigned engineer trainee, tracking their progress.
• Be ready to respond to emergencies including equipment failures and engine room fires, following established emergency procedures.

What We Need From You:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3 years experience with electronic engines (CAT, GE or EMD 710).
• A valid driver's license.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience managing maintenance inventory.
• Ability to work both independently and under pressure.
• Must hold an active TWIC.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining propulsion systems and power generation equipment.
• Knowledge of safety regulations related to engine room operations.
• Excellent leadership and crisis management skills.
• Awareness of environmental regulations and commitment to minimizing vessel impact.
• Physical fitness to perform demanding tasks.
• Dedication to maintaining a clean and safe engine room.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Vocational training or a US Coast Guard License.
• Experience with electronic engines (CAT, GE or EMD 710).
