- Regularly engage in ecclesiastical or religious activities that serve to convey the message of the Catholic Church, carry out its mission and attend to the religious needs of the faithful as called for in the doctrine, teachings and traditions of the Catholic faith.
- Organize and supervise small groups at individual churches within the participating Pastorates to foster connections for young people.
- Form and supervise adult lay volunteers to run church-level small groups.
- Organize and direct monthly events and activities for the Westside of the Sioux Falls metro area that convey the message of the Catholic Church.
- Develop 2-3 yearly retreats and trips—within the city of Sioux Falls or outside of the state of South Dakota—that carry out the mission of the Catholic Church.
- Organize, promote, and participate in defined Pastorates and Sioux Falls Diocesan events and opportunities— including liturgies, festivals, etc.—that teach the doctrine, teachings, and traditions of the Catholic faith.
- Coordinate the development and maintenance of communication systems with youth's families, the youth, and the Westside Pastorate Pastors and office staff.
- The development, maintenance, communication, and execution of a twelve-month calendar, record keeping, metrics tracking, activity/event evaluations, budgeting, and fundraising.
- Create an attitude of service among the youth participating in the Westside Youth Ministry program by proactively seeking service opportunities by monitoring city, statewide, and national current events.
- Work collaboratively with the Eastside Youth Minister to achieve citywide participation and planning for citywide lock-ins, annual concerts, fundraising, and nationally-focused events/conferences, such as the annual Steubenville youth conference, distinctive national conferences (e.g. National Eucharistic Congress).
- Other duties as assigned by the Westside Youth Minister's immediate supervisor and Pastors of the participating Pastorates.
- Willingness and ability to effectively make known the Catholic Church's teachings through the varied ministry activities expected of this position.
- Willingness and ability to act as an outstanding personal witness to the Catholic faith and religion by living both one's professional and personal life in accordance with the doctrines and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, as embodied in the various documents of the Roman Catholic Church, including, without limitation, the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Bachelor's degree in Religious Education or Theology, or National Credential in Youth Ministry, or background in theology and education methodologies.
- Minimum of three years Youth Ministry experience in a Catholic Church.
- Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community.
- Knowledge of all Diocesan Guidelines and procedures.
- An understanding and working knowledge of all desktop applications included in the Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, and various web applications.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment to think strategically, multitask, and conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
- Proven communication skills, and ability to work effectively with a wide-range of individuals while maintaining strict confidentiality

Position Summary:
The Director of Youth Ministry, Westside is responsible for providing youth ministry to Pastorates located in the Westside of the Sioux Falls metro area including, Pastorates 17 and 19, encompassing the parishes of: St. Christina, Parker, SD, St. George, Hartford, SD, St. Katharine Drexel, Sioux Falls, SD, St. Magdalen, Lennox, SD, St. Michael, Sioux Falls, SD, St. Nicholas, Tea, SD. The goal is to assist the youth in developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in their daily life, to encourage life-long learning and participation in the faith, to provide a sound knowledge base about the Catholic faith and to foster the belief that service is an integral part of discipleship.
