This person will likely need to hire one more individual beneath them down the line and perhaps have a hybrid help person from the existing staff to get the lay of the land out of the gates. This person will have the assistance of the existing Managed It Services company for the initial period of the hire. However, the main job of this person at the outset of this job will be to transition from the existing managed services environment to an in-house and/or hybrid in house driven IT environment.
We are hiring an IT Director ready to take full ownership of enterprise technology-from the ground up. This is a bold leadership opportunity to manage infrastructure, security, and support operations for a fast-moving, purpose-driven legal organization in Chicago. We're looking for a hands-on decision-maker who leads with strategy and delivers with precision. This position will be working to bring company IT systems in house from our existing managed service providers.
Project management will be a key component to the transition from managed services to in house IT. This is a functional role that requires combining industry knowledge of best practices in IT service delivery and infrastructure technology with day-to-day management of internal infrastructure operations and change management.
Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day operations in infrastructure, cloud services, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems.
- Define and implement strategies that optimize in-house IT services and systems.
- Implement services to boost innovation and productivity.
- Lead the organization as we move on from an existing IT managed services contract.
- Oversee platform implementation, user support, and technical training.
- Develop framework for in house IT infrastructure and team from the ground up.
- Vet and deploy new technology solutions aligned with business goals.
- Manage vendor relationships and cloud service agreements.
- Establish SOPs, knowledge base documentation, and compliance policies.
- Guide response to technical incidents and support major events.
- Monitor and manage budgets, licensing, and IT procurement.
- Oversee and maintain all IT operations, including hardware, software, network systems, and security.
- Manage the inventory, distribution, and tracking of all technology equipment, including laptops, phones, and related accessories.
- Develop and maintain a system for asset tracking to ensure accountability and recovery of all distributed IT equipment.
- Participate in new hire orientation sessions to provide onboarding support and ensure timely distribution and setup of IT equipment.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of IT and infrastructure leadership experience.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; advanced degree or certifications preferred.
- Expertise in Microsoft 365, Azure, MacOS, iOS, and cloud-based environments.
- Hands-on experience with Google Workspace Administration.
- Proven leadership in team management and complex project delivery.
- Strong communication, project management, documentation, and analytical skills.
- PMP, CISSP, ITIL, A+, N+, Security+, Project+, or CISM certifications are a plus.
