We have immediate openings for Drainage Engineers to work in our growing Design Engineering Services Group in our Westlake, Texas office.

    As a Drainage Engineer, you will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department - a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the Design-Build/Alternative delivery of infrastructure projects.

    You will be working on teams with all levels of drainage engineers on a variety of projects across North America including design-build and progressive design-build projects and pursuits.

    Our engineers work on interdisciplinary teams including geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, roadway engineers, estimators, schedulers and construction experts to perform engineering analysis and design in support of pursuits and ongoing projects.

    District Overview

    Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects.

    Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk.

    Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety.

    Location

    This position is based out of our Lone Tree, CO office. This is not a remote work opportunity, but we offer excellent relocation assistance if you need it.

    Responsibilities


    You will be key member of our design team, responsible for completing engineering assignments that include drainage design, performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses (using variety of models and methods) that support the designs.

    You can expect to prepare design plans, reports, and technical memoranda.


    Other general responsibilities include:
    Lead and produce drainage designs for roadway and rail/transit projects within North America through coordination with multi-disciplined design teams
    Coach, and mentor interns and more junior staff.
    Oversee/create drainage network models utilizing OpenRoads Designer, CivilStorm, Civil 3D and/or other similar design software.
    Participate in interdisciplinary design coordination to ensure that project elements are compatible
    Create preliminary design concepts and alternatives for storm drain systems, streams2, channels, and other stormwater management features to support cost estimating
    Support project communications and technical meetings, provide coordination to resolve design issues

    Support plan production, specifications, estimate and drainage design development and will be responsible / in charge of engineering work and may be the Engineer of Record for final design projects.

    This position required occasional travel to project offices and work sites as needed

    Qualifications


    Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field, with a minimum of 8+ years of design experience in drainage, water resources, hydraulics or hydrology in either transportation or land development projects.

    Must have PE license

    Working knowledge of hydrologic analysis methods including single-event and continuous rainfall modeling, watershed analysis, hydrograph and peak discharge development and routing (from a national perspective).

    Ideal H&H software experience includes any or all of the following: HEC-HMS, SWMM, TR-55, HEC-RAS, HEC-GEORAS, HY-8, CulvertMaster, StormCAD, CivilStorm, PondPack, FlowMaster; 2D experience helpful such as SRH-2D, FLO-2D
    Prefer experience with pavement drainage, culverts, storm systems, bridge sizing and scour, revetment design, temporary drainage design, and coastal considerations for highway and transit drainage
    Understanding of FHWA hydraulic engineering circulars and design series
    Familiarity with flood risk analysis and knowledge of the NFIP including CLOMR and LOMRs is preferred
    Must have working knowledge of storm water quantity / quality calculations, NPDES compliance and erosion control
    Familiarity with design-build/alternative delivery is preferred
    Experience developing construction plans for transportation projects is preferred
    Able to travel as needed to other Kiewit offices and project sites

    Base Compensation:
    $138,000/yr - $145,000/yr

    (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
