This is a role within Systems' Operations and Supply Chain group.
A successful incumbent is expected to (i) Assign resources to assist problem solving activities related to major downtime, quality or safety issues by analyzing BOMs, interpreting drawings, engineering specifications and can consult ERP basic transactions to support production in engineering related problems and for continuous improvements and KPIs, and (ii) Oversee process implementation activities for projects and supports schedules and timelines considering layout strategy, lean manufacturing principles and six sigma guidelines for successful implementation.
Requires 8+ years of relevant experience, prior supervisory experience and a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
ResponsibilitiesAssign resources to assist problem solving activities related to major downtime, quality or safety issues by analyzing BOMs, interpreting drawings, engineering specifications and can consult ERP basic transactions to support production in engineering related problems and for continuous improvements and KPIs
Oversee process implementation activities for projects and supports schedules and timelines considering layout strategy, lean manufacturing principles and six sigma guidelines for successful implementation
Review Quality System Tools and procedures including SPC, PFMEA, and assigns activities to improve Operational KPIs and/or solve quality related problems.
Approve of Designs, Quotes, Purchases of fixtures, tools, workstation improvements, equipment, and processes, etc. to Support NPD, Productivity, new processes and continuous improvement, CQPs and PPAPs
Identify opportunity areas and advises the application of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools and principles to different areas or plantwide projects to improve manufacturing, material flow and process overall performance
Audit and train engineers to support and elaborate Operational Safety Risks, Job Safety Analysis (ASTs) and Safety Practices for the manufacturing processes and resolves major risk points to reduce operational risk; Reviews Ergonomic guidelines and validates layout and workstations to comply with ergonomic standards
Define standards and manages information regarding Industrial engineering process information like Time Study, Standard Work, Capacity, Line Balancing; create, update and audit process layout when changes are being implemented
Prepares annual department budget
Enable and schedule brainstorming sessions for ideas and follow-up on implementation of productivity projects related to labor, overhead and material through engineering tools, process automation opportunities, relay outs, capacity increases, engineering changes, etc.
Manage training and skill-related development plans for manufacturing engineering team to achieve KPIs and develop individual and team performance
Manage, coach and mentor team on application of engineering methods and processes
Budgets and Calculates manufacturing engineering staffing to meet to KPI's, annual goals, new products schedules, productivity goals and support other projects in the area roadmap
Collaborate with facilities engineering utility systems, equipment, heating, air conditioning, ventilating, refrigeration systems, fire protection and security systems to make sure they are properly designed, operated and maintained
Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams.
Protect Chamberlain Group's and Systems' reputation by keeping information confidential.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Motivate and lead a high performance team by attracting, developing, engaging and retaining team members
Drive the performance management and compensation processes by communicating job expectations, monitoring and evaluating performance, providing feedback and facilitating employee development per the company's policies
Maintain transparent communication by appropriately communicating organization information to team through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, appropriate email, IM and regular interpersonal communications
Lead and motivate individuals and teams to create a workplace culture that is consistent with the CGI mission, vision and values.
Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
Green Belt
Lean Manufacturing Certification
8+ years of relevant experience
Prior supervisory experience
Intermediate knowledge of Project management, Lean manufacturing, line Balancing and time study calculations, labor cost calculation, Material flow and workstation design
Project implementation experience, proficient with problem solving techniques
Intermediate knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), PMAPs, VA/VE and productivity generation tools,
Change management (CNs), BOM structure, PPAP process, Core APQP Tools, Digital Factory. Experience in new product implementation, Mistake-proofing techniques
Ability to work in an environment that embraces cross-functional collaborative team driven results
Ability to effectively communicate in group settings to provide a simple concise message
Demonstrated proficient interpersonal, listening and negotiation skills
Quickly learn and have the ability to teach complicated concepts to others and engage all levels of the organization
1-3+ years of managerial experience
